Her Pearl (March 30, 2009)

Nobody knows the treasure
Buried within the coarse outer shell
Hid from the outside and safely within
She doesn’t show herself to many

Nobody sees the tumbling
The scars aren’t created without pain
Yet we never see it all as it happens
But know that it’s always there

Nobody has answered the question
Can the outer shell become smooth
Or are the scratches necessary
To contrast the pearl’s beauty?

Nobody feels what she’s felt
But everyone feels an interpretation
If we knew what it took to be her
Who could survive the churning

Nobody sees her from the inside
The fools get too focused on the shell
Thinking she’s tough and can take it
Never letting her be who she decides

Nobody tells her what she’s hiding
Looking out into the mirror
Her scratches remind her of where she’s been
Rarely to where she is going

"Nobody" doesn’t suit me
For I don’t look at the marred surface
Only the glowing depths of beauty
Every time I see her pearl

Dream Angel (Dec 22, 2008)

I dream on the wings of an angel
Who doesn’t see her wings
Or hear the flutter of the laughter
She uses to protect her flight
The beauty of those wings
Caressing the wind’s grace
Touch my soul with each pass

While I set gently alight
Her touch soothes my eagerness
Like a lioness preening her cub
Caring not for anything but her
I’m found and free in her presence
To be everything I am and will be
Today, tomorrow and forever

Time. Stop. (Jan 7, 2009)

My fingers keep flying
The day still passing
I can't stop thinking
Of your hips swaying
In my mind playing

Slow down, I shouldn't
To savor the moment
Of your dream scent
Too much time spent
Staying my movement

The day still going
It won't be slowing
Your eyes twinkling
I am not resisting
Hints of your feeling

My soul's desire
You're my hearts fire
Exciting me higher
Not only to admire
But to seek love's ire

Time has just stopped
Lost, I am tripped
And dreaming paralyzed
Of when we touched
And lips last kissed
